Hulu

Throughout Chinese history, the bell gourd (‘hulu’ in Chinese) has been revered by various groups as the ancestor of mankind. In myths and folklore, it is often associated with immortals and heroes, symbolising good fortune, luck, and the ability to ward off evil spirits. The gourd is also used in feng shui, as its shape — with a small mouth and large belly — is believed to attract positive chi (energy) while absorbing negative chi.
