Once upon a time, long ago in China, the Jade Emperor decided that there should be a way to measure time on Earth. To achieve this, he announced a swimming race among the animals. The 12 Chinese zodiac signs represent the 12 animals that won the race organized by the Jade Emperor. They are: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. These animals are celebrated in a repeating 12-year cycle.
